Request a Firing in Our Skutt KM 818 Test Kiln!
Class Description
Members can now reserve a firing in our Skutt KM 818 Test Kiln - an ideal option for smaller firings, experiments, and quick turnarounds. With a 2.6 cubic foot capacity and interior dimensions of 18" x 18" x 18", this kiln is perfectly suited for test tiles, small batches, or refining new work without committing to a full load. It accommodates a wide range of firings - from low-temperature lustre and decal firings (cone 018, 019, or 020) to mid/high-range firings like cone 7/8, and everything in between. Please note: this kiln cannot be fired to cone 10. All rentals must be requested in advance, and while we can’t guarantee every booking will be approved due to scheduling and studio needs, we’ll always do our best to accommodate whenever possible.
Policies
Test Kiln Booking Policy By reserving the test kiln, renters agree to assume full responsibility for the safety of their work and its impact on the kiln and all related accessories (including shelves, posts, and kiln furniture). Any damage caused by a renter’s materials, glazes, or firing choices - such as extreme glaze drips, explosions, or contamination - will be the financial responsibility of the renter. Firing artwork always carries inherent risks, including breakage, glaze runs, and unexpected results. By booking the kiln, renters acknowledge and accept these risks and agree that the studio is not liable for damage to their work or losses incurred during the firing process.
