Intermediate Course [Level 2] - Enrollment Open!
Class Description
Thursdays @ 5:45 - 8:15 pm, August 14 - September 18 with Alissa Mittl NOTE: You must have taken Alissa's first Surface Decoration class to enroll So you've taken surface design and gotten the hang of the basics, now what? Get ready to learn even more techniques to advance your surface decoration based around a weekly breakdown of the elements of art. Composition, subject, color and contrast will be considered as we delve deep into combining multiple design techniques. A focus will also be placed on how to approach larger pieces to create dynamic and breathtaking works of art. A sketchbook and tools required for purchase, a full list of materials will be sent after enrollment. Week 1: Composition - Review of basic surface techniques; understanding how different compositions and techniques create vastly different effects Week 2: Subject - Choosing a subject for larger forms and how to render it based on the shape of your piece Week 3: Color - An in depth exploration of color theory and how to develop a color palette based on your aesthetic Week 4: Contrast - Heighten depth and interest in your work using contrast in various ways Week 5: Bisqueware surface techniques - Using bisque design techniques to accentuate designs already created during the greenware phase Week 6: Critique & Glazing Party! I feel lucky to have been able to take her class." - Clayroom Student Class includes: - 25 lbs of clay - 6 weeks of 2.5 hours of instruction - Unlimited use of the studio during open studio hours - Firing fees - Glazes

Policies
Class Fees & Schedule: - Class fees cover instructed class time (as listed in specific class schedule), use of tools and equipment, open studio hours, studio glazes and kiln firings - Pottery class fees include 25 lbs of clay - Classes are subject to change if the minimum student quota (7) isn't met - Class switches will only be available one week prior to the commencement of classes and are based on the capacity of classes at time of request Attendance: - It is mandatory for all students who are new to the studio attend the first class - If a class meeting is missed, students can drop into an available class on Clayroom SM's Makeup class spreadsheet if space permits (limit two drop-in's per class meeting) - For adult classes, participants must be at least 14 years of age Personal Belongings: - Any items left behind 30 days after the final class meeting may be discarded without notice Refund Policy: - A refund (minus $20 processing fee) or credit in full will be granted if a cancellation request is received at least TWO WEEKS prior to the day of class - For cancellation requests made less than two weeks before the class start date, a credit (no refund) MAY be granted ONLY if your spot can be filled - No refunds or credits will be granted after attending first class meeting - Classes missed due to failure to attend, planned absences, minor illnesses or vacations will not be credited for future classes Student Open Studio Hours: Monday - Thursday: 10AM - 6PM Friday - Sunday: 10AM - 9PM Hours subject to change upon five days' notice
