Kid & Teen Summer Camps

Class Description

Kids Camp 1 (AGES 8-12): Monday through Friday @ 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM, June 10 - 14 with Amy Hoang Kids Camp 2 (AGES 8-12): Monday through Friday @ 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM, July 15 - 19 with Amy Hoang Teen Camp 3 (AGES 13-16): Monday through Friday @ 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM, August 5 - 9 with Amy Hoang These immersive five day Ceramics Summer Camps will focus on hand-building and sculpture and a wheel throwing project which will give students a thorough understanding of basic clay techniques. An emphasis will be placed on individual creative expression so students will have the opportunity to make what speaks to them. NOTE: Camps 1 and 2 are for children aged 8 - 12, Camp 3 is for teens aged 13 - 16; please ensure you register for the class session that corresponds to your child's age - Projects will be fired in the kiln and ready to pick up two to four weeks after the camp ends - Please pack and bring lunch and snacks, students will have a 45 minute lunch break - Students are encouraged to wear clothes that can get dirty! Day 1: Pinch Pots - students will have the opportunity to make a sculpture or pot using the pinch method (example projects: favorite animal, votive, piggy bank) Day 2: Coil Building - students will make a project using the coil method (example projects: vase, planter, pencil holder, mug) Day 3: Slab Building - students will represent their home or a keepsake box using the slab building method (example projects: mobile, self portrait mask, picture frame) Day 4: Challenge Day - students will use their new found ceramics skills to create a more advanced project using all three basic handbuilding methods (coil, pinch, & slab) Day 5: Wheel-throwing - students will learn how to use the pottery wheel to make simple bowls and cups

Policies

Refund Policy: - A refund or credit will be granted (minus $20 processing fee) if a cancellation request is received at least TWO WEEKS prior to the class or camp - For cancellation requests placed 48 hours or less prior to the class or camp, a credit (no refund) MAY be granted ONLY if your spot can be filled - No refunds or credits after attending 1st class or camp meeting - Classes missed due to failure to attend will not be credited Picking Up Artwork: Pieces made in Kid's Classes and Camps take a minimum of two to four weeks to fully complete (bisque and glaze firing). Once they are finished, a staff member will notify each parent via email to come pick up the individually bagged artwork. In-person pick up is required, we do not ship.
